Cameroon Water Partnership held on Friday 18th of March, in Yaoundé, Cameroon its 6th Council Meeting. It had as theme “from lobbying to action”.
The statutory meeting was attended by 21 Partners representing the different college of Partners in Cameroon. It aimed at thinking of developing new strategies to get Partners more involved and interested in the life of the partnership, on the one hand commenting and approving the 2014 and 2015 GWP-Cmr annual reports, as well as the 2016 work plan, on the other hand.
Interactive sessions were dedicated to examine the GWP-Cameroon (GWP-Cmr) annual reports, followed by individual thematic works on climate smart project development. The agenda of the meeting was made of several presentations on funding sources for water and climate related projects, the use of the ToolBox, experience sharing from case studies and GWP Partners Policy.
During this meeting, the new GWP-Cmr constitution was presented to partners who amended and approved it. Therefore, the Partners mandated the secretariat to continue not only the implementation of the recommendations and the 2016 work plan but also the process of acquiring NGO status and that of accreditation from GWP.
- The degree of involvement of public sector partners is not equal either to those from private sector and or associations, because the public sector Partners are lawfully depended on their respective hierarchies;
- The endorsement of the GWP- Cmr projects by strategic ministries is crucial for the mobilization of funds;
- The delocalized meetings between partners are very important to maintain and enhance stakeholder participation in the life of the network.
