Nigeria is situated by the coast, by the Gulf of Guinea. It is bordered by Benin, Cameroon, Chad and Niger. The climate is varied: equatorial in the south, tropical in the centre and arid in the north. The Niger flows through the country, entering in the northwest and flows southward through tropical rain forests and swamps to its delta in the Gulf of Guinea. Nigeria is rich in e.g. natural gas, petroleum, tin, iron ore and coal.
