UN General Assembly Water Dialogue

GWP Chair Dr Oyun Sanjaasuren will be one of the panellists in a UN General Assembly Water Dialogue on World Water Day, 22 March 2017. Experts are invited to discuss how to improve the integration and coordination of UN's work on the water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and targets.

Dr Sanjaasuren will participate in a discussion themed "Role of the UN system: improving the integration and coordination to support the Member States and other relevant stakeholders in the implementation and follow-up of water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This discussion is very much applicable to GWP,  says Dr Sanjaasuren:  "To successfully fulfil the SDGs, Member State Partners at the regional, national and sub-national level will be required, with partners from government, civil society, the scientific community and the private sector, both in and outside the water community. The interlinkages between the goals and targets demand this for optimal implementation. GWP already has these platforms in place in more than 80 countries."

The all-day event aims to identify current pressing gaps and challenges, as well as appropriate recommendations. Another, second UN dialogue on the same theme will be held later in the year.

Full details of this event is available on the UN General Assembly website.
