What Does a Water Goal Mean for Countries?

In the past months GWP Central America has undertaken various activities to continue promoting the water goal which is set to be part of the post-2015 agenda.

The water goal is one of the 17 goals included in the Sustainable Development Goals, which will be approved by the UN General Assembly at the end of September of this year.

Because there has been little media coverage of the SDGs process in the region, the GWP Central America blog (in Spanish) has included a comprehensive post regarding the water goal so as to disseminate information on what the water goal says and what commitments countries are acquiring with the approval of the SDGs. The post has received comments from experts in the region regarding all 6 targets included in the water goal.

As a follow-up activity GWP Central America has also launched a photo contest regarding the SDGs in which participants are asked to match their photograph to a specific target and has published it´s biannual publication “Entre Aguas” with this topic in mind. The publication includes an editorial, an interview and three articles that discuss the importance that water governance has in meeting the challenge of reaching the targets included in the SDG water goal (all materials in Spanish).
