Goal of the workshop, organized by International Sava River Basin Commission, was to present and discuss draft of the Sava River Basin Management Plan.
The Plan describes water situation in the basin, identifies significant pressures and proposes measures to achieve environmental objectives according to the EU Water Framework Directive at the basin-wide scale.
Process and settings for participation in the implementation of the River Basin Management Plan was also discussed.
The participants proposed a more permanent mechanism to organize structured participation of the stakeholders in the management of the Sava River Basin in the form of Water Partnership.
“In the future, Sava Water Partnership could become GWP Partner” said Martina Zupan, echoed also by GWP Mediterranean representative Dimitris Faloutsos.
