Geographic Scope

The Mediterranean, which literally means “sea between lands”, is bordered by a mosaic of countries sharing century-old traditions, customs and experiences.

Although multifaceted, the Mediterranean constitutes an eco-region with common characteristics and shared natural resources. Water, a precious and scarce resource, has played a key role in the region and has constituted a major bond between the nations.

The geographical scope of GWP Med includes the following countries: Albania • Algeria • Bosnia & Herzegovina • Croatia • Cyprus • Egypt* • France • Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia • Greece • Italy • Israel • Jordan • Lebanon • Libya • Malta • Mauritania • Monaco • Montenegro • Morocco • Occupied Palestinian Territories • Serbia • Slovenia* • Spain • Syria • Tunisia • Turkey.

* Egypt is also serviced by GWP East Africa, and Slovenia is also serviced by GWP Central and Eastern Europe
