GWPSA at the 7th World Water Forum

The World Water Forum 7 is happening in Korea this year from 10-18th April 2015. The theme is ‘Water for Our Future’. The key focus will be on the Sustainable Development Goals and water security.

GWPSA is being represented at the forum by Regional Programmes Officer, Michael Ramaano. GWPSA’s participation at the forum will be to support the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) in a regional session on ‘Water Infrastructure for Sustainable Water Resource Management and Services’. GWPSA organized the Africa Development Bank (AfDB) supported regional consultation for AMCOW on this theme in January 2015. It is in this regard that GWPSA’s presence in Korea will be to support SADC further in this process. Phera will be presenting this work at the WWF.

As a whole, GWP teams in Africa will be supporting the AMCOW session at WWF7 since all regions had key themes to focus on in their regional - Africa consultations as input into the WWF7 preparations and consultations. These included Southern Africa for SADC on infrastructure; Central Africa - water supply and sanitation; Eastern - Water and Food security, West Africa - climate change.
