NBA and GWP-WA sign an MOU

The Niger Basin Authority (NBA) and the Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) signed on Wednesday, 21 June 2017 in Niamey a collaboration agreement between The two institutions. The idea of ​​signing such a collaborative framework document has been issued since 2009 but could not be realized.

Concluding a series of exchanges during the month of June and a working session between a GWP-WA delegation led by the chair AFOUDA and the NBA team led by its Executive Secretary, BOGUEMA things got ready. The technicians of both parties worked quickly to finalize the draft document circulated between the two institutions.

TravailBoth Professor Afouda and Dr BOGUENA noted that the two organizations, share the same goals, namely the well-being of populations and water security in the region. So, the MOU establishes "close relations of cooperation and partnership between the two institutions to promote the coordination and harmonization of their respective actions with a view to achieving their common goals".

The two organizations will therefore identify specific actions to be taken together in a document known as the "NBA-GWP / WA Joint Program" and will meet periodically on agreed dates. The agreement allows the sharing of information, data, expertise and experience through cooperation between experts and technicians.

RemisedocAfter the signing ceremony held on the premises of the NBA, GWP-WA Chair, Pr. Abel AFOUDA thanked his host for this action which strengthens the trust between the two institutions and makes it possible to better focus actions. Dr. Toupta BOGUENA, NBA Executive Secretary after thanking her interlocutor expressed the availability of her institution to have a frank and direct collaboration with GWP-WA.
