Ghana: Baseline validation workshop held at Bolgatanga

The Ghana Country Water Partnership (CWP-Ghana) has held the validation meeting for the report on the study entitled “Impacts and Vulnerability assessment of Climate Change in the Upper East Region of Ghana and pathways to Creating Green Solutions and Integrating Climate-Smart Interventions into development Planning”. The program took place at the SSNIT conference room at Bolgatanga on 17th July, 2014 and was chaired by Mr Aduna from the White Volta Basin Office (WVB).

 

The main purpose for the validation was to add on to the report the inputs of the people directly working with the communities and also to have them authenticate the findings of the study.

The WACDEP Regional Programme Manager, Mahamadou Tiemtore, was one of the participants at the meeting. Also in attendance were officials from the White Volta Basin Office, the Regional Coordinating Council in Bolgatanga; researcher, Dr. Amikuzunu and his team from the University for Development Studies, Tamale (UDS); Planning Officers and civil Society Organisations from the Bawku West and Bongo Districts and the Bawku Municipality. Also present were the community members from the three districts and the media. In all, there were thirty nine participants at the meeting.

 Moving forward, participants commended the researcher and the partnership for an effective study and went on to advised the project to involve the districts from the planning of the project to ensure its success.
