The programme runs from May 2011 to April 2016. The total budget is estimated at 12.7 million euros, of which the funding is covered by GWP's core donors and additional donations by a number of bilateral agencies.
The WACDEP project was launched at the Stockholm World Water Week 2011. A common understanding among GWP Africa regions on the approach to develop detailed work plans and implementation plans was developed at the 2nd Technical Coordination Workshop in May 2012. To catalyse knowledge sharing and coordination of WACDEP implementation, the 3rd Technical Coordination Workshop was held on 25 August 2012 in Stockholm. It set the stage for scaling up WACDEP implementation.
