Austria has agreed to provide an additional Euro 1,395,000 for GWP-AMCOW’s Water, Climate, and Development Programme (WACDEP) for Africa, and has extended their funding agreement to April 30, 2016. This is in addition to Austria’s initial funding of Euro 1.5 million that helped launch the programme.
“This commitment of more funding to WACDEP by Austria even before the first funding expires is testimony of the confidence in GWP and the WACDEP programme,” said Alex Similabwi, Global Coordinator for GWP’s Water and Climate Programme. “This latest contribution brings the total confirmed funding for this Africa programme to Euro 10.195 million,” he said.
The additional funding will be allocated to scaling up implementation of activities in regional/transboundary river basins, project preparation, demonstration projects, and capacity building.
