Future generations alerted to the need to use the Danube sustainably

Posted: 2011-01-01

GWP Hungary brought together a team of water and communication experts to organise the 2010 Danube Box competition, one of the most popular annual educational contests in Hungary.

More than 400 secondary schools throughout the country took part. "Everyone knows that water is important and scarce, but there are still many cases of water being wasted. Working with youth is an effective tool to talk about water problems and change behaviour," commented Monika Jetzin, GWP Hungary Project Manager. The contest helped children understand the need to protect the Danube and use it wisely and sustainably.
