The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), formalising a collaborative relationship for addressing regional water priorities.

A joint GIZ, African Union Commission (AUC) and GWP study tour covered the topic of “Water Security and Climate Resilient Development in the German Water Sector” in Berlin in June. The participants were from the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), and the training provided a closer look at effective climate adaptation measures in the German water sector.

Our approach is hinged on two mutually objectives:  delivering GWP strategy in the region and responding to water and climate resilience needs and contexts at all levels in the Eastern and Greater Horn of Africa.

GWP Eastern Africa (GWPEA) is one of 13 regional networks that make up GWP, an international network that was created in 1996 to foster implementation of integrated water resources management: the coordinated development and management of water, land, and related resources that maximises economic and social welfare without compromising the sustainability of ecosystems and the environment.

GWP and the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO) entered a cooperation to capture experiences on IWRM.

Technical Focus Papers on Water Resources Management are publications of the GWP Technical Committee aimed at harnessing and sharing knowledge and experiences generated by Knowledge Partners and Country Water Partnerships through the GWP Knowledge Chain.

Looking back to 13 years of existence, GWP Eastern Africa has achieved a lot, but there is still a long way to go. Major achievements include the following:
