Technologies for Ecological Progress and Water Regulation

On October 12, 2016, the integrated regulation of water resources for ecological progress workshop was jointly organized by the China Academy of Engineering, Dalian University of Technology and China Institute of Hydropower and Water Resources Research (IWHR) in Dalian, Liaoning Province.

110 participants from the China Academy of Engineering, Dalian University of Technology and the IWHR, Tsinghua University, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Jilin University, etc. participated in the Workshop.

In the workshop, the research results of 10 experts and professors from different organizations were presented. The leading speaker was Prof. Wang Hao, Academician of China Academy of Engineering and Standing vice Chair of GWP China, presenting the fundamental theory and key technologies of forecasting and dispatching for cascade reservoirs. Other speakers also presented the coupling relationship between water resources regulation and ecological environment; the water and sediment regulation of the Yellow River; the analysis on major problems in the regulation of water resources in Northeast China, the ecological flow process and regulation for target fish habitat protection; etc. The participants gave high appreciation on the presentations with innovative technologies and information. The discussion at the workshop also touched the temporary challenges of water resources management related to ecological reservation. The further study or practice of water regulation should be more comprehensive to develop technological and intellectual supports for sustainable development of water resources and security of water and ecology in China.
