Key stakeholders from the Mediterranean water community will gather in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia on 5-7 February 2024 to attend the 5th Mediterranean Water Forum “Working together for Water Sobriety”. The event, offers a platform for fruitful discussions on the application of innovative solutions to changing water needs, replicating solutions to emerging global environmental challenges, promoting constructive dialogue conducive to the development of an equitable strategy for the sustainable management of water resources in the Mediterranean and placing water as a political priority at global, regional and national level. The Forum is held under the aegis of the World Water Forum and the Union for the Mediterranean and is part of the preparatory process for the 10th World Water Forum that will be held in Bali, Indonesia in May 18-24 2024.
GWP-Med will be contributing to the Forum’s key themes and discussions, through the organization of the following 4 side-events:
1) Gender Dynamics and the WEFE Nexus in the Mediterranean, 5 February 11:30-13:00 pm.

2) Using system thinking to enhance Water Quality, Sustainability and Climate Resilience in the Mediterranean source-to-sea continuum – The MedProgramme, 5 February 11:30-13:00 pm.
Organiser: The Mediterranean Sea Programme (MedProgramme): Enhancing Environmental Security (GEF ID 9607).
A Global Environment Facility (GEF) regional Multi Focal Area Programmatic Approach, implemented in Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Montenegro, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey. UNEP/Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) is the leading executing Agency; the GEF Implementing Agencies are UNEP and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the executing partners are UNESCO/IHP, European Investment Bank (EIB), IUCN Med, GWP Med, WWF Med, Plan Bleu, PAP/RAC, SCP/RAC and SPA/RAC.
3) 2nd Regional Roundtable on Water-Energy-Food and Ecosystems Nexus in the Mediterranean “Towards a Strategy for the WEFE Nexus in the Mediterranean Source to Sea Continuum”, 5 February 14:30-17:00 pm.
Organised within the joint initiative of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), the UN Environment Mediterranean Action Plan (UNEP-MAP), and the European Union (EU), the side-event is organized by the Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med) in the framework of the GEF UNEP/MAP MedProgramme Child Project 2.2 on WEFE Nexus in cooperation with the “EU WES in the ENI Southern Neighbourhood region” Project and the PRIMA Foundation.
4) Transformative Water Resources Management, Smart and Resilient Solutions for Climate Change across the Mediterranean, 5 February, 14:00-15:30 pm.

Les principaux acteurs de la communauté méditerranéenne de l'eau se réuniront à Tunis, la capitale de la Tunisie, du 5 au 7 février 2024 pour assister au 5e Forum méditerranéen de l'eau "Ensemble pour une sobriété hydrique partagée". L'événement offre une plateforme pour des discussions fructueuses sur l'application de solutions innovantes à l'évolution des besoins en eau, la reproduction de solutions aux défis environnementaux mondiaux émergents, la promotion d'un dialogue constructif propice à l’élaboration d'une stratégie équitable pour la gestion durable des ressources en eau en Méditerranée et le placement de l'eau en tant que priorité politique aux niveaux mondial, régional et national. Le Forum est organisé sous l'égide du Forum mondial de l'eau et de l'Union pour la Méditerranée et fait partie du processus préparatoire du 10ème Forum mondial de l'eau qui se tiendra à Bali, en Indonésie, du 18 au 24 mai 2024.
GWP-Med contribuera aux thèmes et discussions clés du Forum, à travers l'organisation des 4 événements parallèles suivants :

Organisateur: Programme pour la mer Méditerranée (MedProgramme) : Renforcement de la sécurité environnementale (GEF ID 9607).
Une régionale multidomaine d'intervention du Fonds pour l'environnement mondial (FEM), mise en œuvre en Albanie, en Algérie, en Bosnie-Herzégovine, en Égypte, au Liban, en Libye, au Monténégro, au Maroc, en Tunisie et en Turquie. Le PNUE/Plan d'action pour la Méditerranée (PAM) est l'agence d'exécution principale ; les agences d'exécution du FEM sont le PNUE et la Banque européenne pour la reconstruction et le développement (BERD) et les partenaires d'exécution sont l'UNESCO/PHI, la Banque européenne d'investissement (BEI), l'UICN Med, le GWP Med, le WWF Med, le Plan Bleu, le CAR/PAP, le CAR/SCP et le CAR/ASP.
3) 2ème Table ronde régionale sur le Nexus Eau-Énergie-Alimentation-Écosystèmes (WEFE) en Méditerranée ‘’Vers une stratégie pour le nexus WEFE dans le continuum source-mer de la Méditerranée’’ : le 5 février de 14h30 à 17h00 ;
Organisé dans le cadre de l'initiative conjointe de l'Union pour la Méditerranée (UpM), du Plan d'action pour la Méditerranée de l'ONU Environnement (UNEP-MAP) et de l'Union européenne (UE), l' événement est organisé par le Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean (GWP-Med) dans le cadre du GEF UNEP/MAP MedProgramme Child Project 2.2 on WEFE Nexus en coopération avec le projet "EU WES in the ENI Southern Neighbourhood region" et la Fondation PRIMA.
4) Gestion transformative des ressources en eau, solutions intelligentes et résilientes pour le changement climatique dans la région Méditerranéenne : le 5 février de 14h00 à 15h30.
