Our results in Stage 1

Since 2017, the Support Programme has assisted over 70 countries in convening multi-stakeholder consultation workshops to report to UNEP as the custodian agency of SDG 6.5.1 on the degree of implementation of IWRM in the country. In alignment with the principles of IWRM, the workshops brought together diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, research institutions, private sector representatives, international organisations and civil society organizations. Participants discussed the status of water resources management in-country and filled in the official SDG 6.5.1 in a collaborative manner. To date, the support translates into two reporting rounds on SDG indicator 6.5.1, in 2017/2018 and 2020. Our commitment is ongoing, and we will be supporting countries in the next round of data collection between April and October 2023. More information and support material can be accessed on the IWRM Data Portal.
