GWP at World Water Week 2014

World Water Week 2014 takes place in Stockholm from 31 August to 5 September. This year’s theme is “Energy and Water”. Global Water Partnership will be involved in a number of activities during the week-long event.

On Sunday 31 August, GWP is one of the co-convenors of the side event “Action, Innovation and Learning for Managing Land, Rivers, Coasts and Seas”, and GWP and the OECD are hosting an event on the joint initiative The Global Dialogue on Water Security and Sustainable Growth on Monday 1 September.

On Wednesday 3 September GWP is one of the co-convenors of the SIWI workshop “Integrated Water and Energy Policy and Governance”. GWP co-convenes a seminar under the topic “Integrating Water Priorities and Perspectives in the Americas” on the same day.

During the week GWP will also officially launch its new Gender Strategy. The launch is scheduled for Wednesday 3 September. Prior to this GWP – in collaboration with UNESCO-IHP and AMCOW – holds a seminar on the topic “Gender and Water: An Untapped Connection?” on Tuesday 2 September.

On Tuesday GWP also co-convenes a seminar on “Water and Energy in Global Climate Policy: How to Increase Coherence and Ensure Effectiveness?” as well as a seminar entitled “Africa Focus: Growing the Water and Energy Nexus for Development” and “Africa Focus: Building Climate Resilience for Water and Energy Infrastructure”.

On Thursday 4 September GWP is one of several co-convenors of the workshop “Access, Poverty and the Post-2015 Development Agenda”.

Further information on GWP’s involvement will be available shortly, such as information on several publications to be launched, and other events that GWP will host or co-convene.

World Water Week has been organised and hosted by the Swedish International Water Institute (SIWI) since 1991. The most updated version of the week’s event is available in their online programme.
