The World Meteorological Organization and Global Water Partnership have launched a joint Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP) on 13 March 2013, to improve monitoring and prevention of one of the world's greatest natural hazards.
The case study presents experiences from construction of reed bed waste water treatment plant in Vidrare village, located approximately 60 km from the capital Sofia. In the past, polluted water was discharged directly into a local stream.
GWP Lithuania and Poland take part in a consortium led by Stockholm International Water Institute to support sustainable management of rivers shared by countries in the Eastern Baltic's - Kaliningrad Oblast (Russian Federation), Lithuania and Poland.
