ISEPEI, which stands for "In-Service ICT Training for Environmental Professionals", is a seed-funded Eye on Earth project, aiming to bridge the gap between ICTs and the environment. ISEPEI is developing an online repository of case studies highlighting the use of ICTs in Water Security, thereby giving decision-makers access to real-life examples of how ICTs can improve decision-making.
Three IDMP CEE demo projects were chosen to be developed as case studies.
- GIS Based Communication Platform for the Sustainable Management of Transboundary Water Resources in Lithuania, Poland, Belarus and Kaliningrad Region (Russia) on ISEPEI
- GIS Based Tool for the Landscape Retention Planning on ISEPEI
- Remote Sensing Based Agricultural Drought Monitoring and Yield Loss Prediction Method on ISEPEI
The Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP) in CEE was launched in 2013 by the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and the World Metorological Organization (WMO). The Programme supports the governments of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine in the development of drought management policies and plans. It also builds the capacity of stakeholders to use a proactive integrated drought management approach and tests innovative drought management approaches.
