Regional Workshop on the Hydrological Model and Decision Support Tool for the Volta Basin

From September 16 to 19, 2025, a regional capacity-building workshop was held in Lomé on the water resources model and the Decision Support Tool (DST) for sustainable planning and management of the Volta River Basin. Organized as part of the REWarD – Volta River Basin project, this workshop is part of a regional effort to strengthen transboundary water governance and restore the basin’s ecosystems.

National Workshop to Amend the Methodological Guide for the Mono Basin Water Charter

As part of the “Regional Initiative for Water and Environment in the Transboundary Mono River Basin (IREE-Mono, 2024–2028)”, the Mono Basin Authority (MBA), in collaboration with the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) and the Global Water Partnership in West Africa (GWP-WA), organized on September 22, 2025, a national workshop dedicated to amending the draft report of the Methodological Guide for the development and implementation of the Mono Basin Water Charter.

Leadership Transition at NBA: Mr. Houanye Assumes Executive Role

The handover ceremony took place on July 24, 2025, at the headquarters of the Niger Basin Authority (NBA) in Niamey, Niger, officially marking the appointment of Mr. Kocou Armand Houanye as the institution’s new Executive Secretary.

- Ghana Strengthens Local Governance with New Coordination Mechanism for Volta Basin Stakeholders

Bolgatanga, Ghana – 15 July 2025 In a significant step toward inclusive and sustainable water governance, Ghana has officially launched its National Coordination of Users of Natural Resources in the Volta Basin. The initiative was formalized during a national workshop held in Bolgatanga, as part of the broader mission to establish and strengthen national and regional user coordination structures across the Volta Basin.
