WP1:  Regional and Transboundary Cooperation 

Activity 1.1 – Cooperation with international river basin commissions (Danube, Odra, Elbe, Sava) and regional organizations

The programme aims to support regional and transboundary organizations, including international river basin commissions, to advance regional cooperation, integrated drought management and climate change adaptation in transboundary waters, and thereby enhance regional and economic development.

Activity 1.2 - Review of the current status of the implementation of Drought Management Plans (DMP) and measures within River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) according to the Water Framework Directive (WFD)

This activity aims to analyze the current status of the implementation of drought management plans/measures within River Basin Management Plans (RBMPs) according to the EU Water Framework Directive.

Activity 1.3 – Drought data exchange platform

This activity will review existing platforms and make a proposal for the integration of IDMP CEE products and data into one of them, in order to design a common concept of capacity development and knowledge transfer.

Act. 1.4:  Development of GIS Based Communication Technology Platform for the Sustainable Management of Transboundary Water Resources in  Lithuania, Poland and Kaliningrad Region.

Main objectives of this activity are to develop GIS maps and databases for the transboundary Nemunas (Neman) river basin which is shared by Lithuania, Kaliningrad Oblast (Russia), Belarus and Poland (Baltic Sea Region). The maps and databases will also include information for drought management in the transboundary river basin. Water experts from GWP-Lithuania, GWP-Poland, Atlantic Branch of P.P.Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russian Academy of Sciences and Central Research Institute for Complex Use of Water Resources, Belarus will participate in the activity.
