IWRM in the Caribbean

The Caribbean region has been exposed to IWRM and it is the goal of Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) to work together with its partners and stakeholders at all levels to implement IWRM in the Caribbean.

As the Caribbean Regional Water Partnership (RWP) of the Global Water Partnership (GWP) Organisation, GWP-C is dedicated to promoting IWRM in the region.

In order to accomplish this, GWP-C has and continues to bring together stakeholders from the region through its IWRM workshops and fora to access the stage of the IWRM process various countries have reached and work together with stakeholders to operationalise IWRM in their respective countries.

IWRM has not been fully adopted in the Caribbean but several territories have developed/drafted IWRM Roadmaps/Action plans. Some of these countries include: Antigua and Barbuda; Barbados; Dominica; Grenada; Guyana (in the process of developing an IWRM Roadmap); Jamaica; The Bahamas; Trinidad and Tobago; and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

GWP-C via its Partnerships and the involvement of stakeholders from all sectors is committed to institutionalising and operationalising IWRM in the region.
