Regional Action Plans

GWP Eastern Africa draws its annual action plans from GWP’s priorities as reflected in the strategy and local contexts and needs. Aligning global water and climate resilience aspirations as reflected in GWP’s strategic goals with regional, national and local needs through vertical and horizontal consultations (policy dialogue & community meetings) ensures effectiveness, responsiveness and coherence in terms of desired change in water resource resources management policies, practices and mindset at all levels.

For instance: the process of action plan formulation is initiated at country level through Country Water Partnerships (CWPs), the Regional Office (GWP Eastern Africa) aligns the draft action plans with the overall GWP strategic goals and submits the draft action plans to Regional Steering Committee (RSC) for systematic review, scrutiny and approval.

Once approved and adopted, the final report is submitted to GWP for consideration and financing. The bottom-up approach adds value to the region in terms of effective use and management of resources (financial), coherence and coordination and focusing on real issues.
