Groundwater e-learning

In 2022, the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), as part of the African Groundwater Program (APAGroP) of the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW), supported the African Groundwater Network (AGW-Net), Ask for Water GmbH, and Cap-Net UNDP, in partnership with the Senegalese Country Water Partnership (PNES), to develop and deliver two online courses on groundwater.

The courses, which targeted approximately 250 participants each, provided training on groundwater resource management and professional borehole management. Each course lasted four months and the program was completed at the end of October 2022. The first phase of this project involved the development of a toolkit and case studies for better professional groundwater and borehole management. Under the umbrella of Ask For Water two presentation webinars were scheduled in the wake of the toolkit development to provide participants with an understanding of the effectiveness and challenges of groundwater e-learning to improve their professionalism in water resources management.

Each webinar examines the experiences of managers, co-facilitators, and funders on the one hand, and participants on the other. Thematically, each webinar focuses on one of the courses: (i) groundwater resources management and (ii) professional borehole management.
