Since launching in April 2021, GWL has been working to strengthen national support for water resource and services management, provide critical information and analysis to identify and resolve barriers, input into water and/or climate policies, and helped governments bolster its climate resilience. At the core of the GWL programme are government-validated Response Strategies for addressing the most critical barriers to climate-resilient water management.
The GWL Programme is concluding on 31 March 2024. It’s in this context GWP holds this Closeout Workshop in Lilongwe, Malawi, on March 14 and 15, to enable full documentation and capturing of lessons learned, with strategies for following up on GWL Response Strategy outcomes being shared across the remaining team and critical government partners.
The programme has been conducted in seven GWP countries spread across five sub-regions: Central African Republic in Central Africa; Rwanda and Uganda in Eastern Africa; Malawi and Tanzania in Southern Africa; Nepal in South Asia; and the State of Palestine in the Mediterranean. GWL is implemented through a collaboration comprising GWP, UNICEF, SWA, WHO and JMP, and funded by FCDO.
