GWP at Stockholm Water Week 2016

Final preparations are underway for Stockholm World Water Week 2016, which this year takes place 28 August – 2 September. Similar to previous years, GWP has a prominent role at the event, with representatives involved in a number of sessions. Here are some highlights.

On the first day, Sunday, GWP is co-convenor of “WEF Nexus Platform: Achieving the Water, Energy and Food SDGs”, with GWP Technical Committee member Eelco Van Beek moderating part of the session.

On Monday, GWP, the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), and the Church of Sweden co-convene a panel on “Water and Faiths: Faith Based Organizations contributing to the SDGs”. The same day GWP is co-convenor of “Water as a driver for sustainable growth”, where GWP Chair Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren will be part of a high-level panel discussion, along with Angel Gurría, Secretary General, OECD, Hon. Nomvula Mokonyane, Minister of Water & Sanitation South Africa, and Jennifer Sara, Senior Director for Water (a.i.) at the World Bank.

On Tuesday, Dr. Sanjaasuren will be the key note speaker at a session on “Ecosystem degradation and livelihoods: moving from vicious to virtuous cycles”, and GWP Mediterranean kicks off two days of four separate sessions with a Middle East & Northern Africa (MENA) focus.

Meet Us at the Booth

GWP has a booth (no. 46) at the venue, where everybody is welcome to visit – to meet key GWP people; add messages on the GWP Twitter Wall; speak up in video messages; and pick up the latest GWP materials.
