GWP at the UN-Water Zaragoza Conference

The UN-Water annual Zaragoza Conference serves as preparation for the annual World Water Day. GWP representatives participated in several of the sessions.

More than 300 participants from UN agencies and programmes, experts, representatives of the business community, governmental and non-governmental organisations met to discuss how to bring the post-2015 development agenda into action. The theme of the conference was "From Vision to Action".

GWP Chair Dr. Ursula Schaefer-Preuss spoke about the progress on stakeholder engagement during the decade, and GWP Deputy Executive Secretary Rudolph Cleveringa was part of a multi-stakeholder dialogue on tools for implementation of the water related Sustainable Development Goals. GWP's Technical Committee was represented at the conference, by Professor Kalanithy Vairavamoorthy.

The UN website page for the event has a full recap of the event - including recorded videos of all the session.

The 2015 World Water Day theme is "water and sustainable development". The day is celebrated annually on March 22nd.
