GWP Slovakia has a New Chair

Elena Fatulova is the new Chair of the Global Water Partnership Slovakia it was announced on 5 April 2012.

Ms. Fatulova has extensive experience in water management, river basin management planning, water infrastructure and legislation. She has held increasingly responsible positions at Ministry of Environment of the Slovak republic and most recently as a coordinator of European Union Water Framework Directive implementation.

Currently she is working as a consultant for Association of Industrial Ecology. She is involved as an independent expert in various GWP CEE projects, including GWP CEE Danube Strategy Task Force.

In addition to her role as a Chair, she will represent GWP Slovakia in the Regional Council, the highest decision making body of Regional Water Partnership.

During GWP Slovakia General Assembly, Ms. Gabriela Babiakova was elected as a Vice-Chair. She worked at Institute of Hydrology and Hydraulics of Slovak Academy of Sciences as a research fellow focusing on snow hydrology and extreme hydrologic events.

During her career at Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute, she focused on hydrological forecasting, assessment of flood monitoring and sensitivity analysis to formation of floods.

She is a founder of an initiative “Participation of Women in the Fields of Meteorology, Operational Hydrology and Related Sciences” within Conference of Visegrad Countries.
