10,000 seedlings planted by CWP Guinea during the national reforestation campaign in Forecariah

The national reforestation campaign launched on July 12, 2021, in Koundara, one of the prefectures under threat of desertification, is supported by non-governmental organizations for the protection of natural resources.

That why the Chair of the Country Water Partnership of Guinea (PNEGUI), Alhaj Mamadou Alpha HANN, has planted 10,000 melina seedlings in the Maleah (prefecture of Forecariah), located about a hundred kilometers from Conakry, capital city of Guinea.

With this gesture, the CWP intends to contribute to the protection of nature, and especially to the fight against global warming which is rampant in the World and Guinea is not spared by the phenomenon.

The prefecture of Koundara with no reforestation is one of the localities now threatened by desertification in Guinea. The abusive cutting of wood, bush fires and the degradation of waterways are unfortunately contributing to this situation.

Floods, droughts, disruption of rainfall, or the rise in sea level are among the major effects of global warming. Contributing to fight the phenomenon is a necessity to preserve living conditions for present and future generations.
