Benin, WACDEP-G trains key actors involved in planning and programming processes on GTA

On November 24 and 25, 2021, took place the capacity building workshop of the executives in charge of planning and programming of the Ministries of Water, Living Environment and Sustainable Development, as well as some national and regional NGOs intervening in the water and climate sectors.

Integrating Gender Transformational Approach in the planning and implementation processes of investments for water security and climate change resilient development in Benin is the topic of this WACDEP-G event attended by about thirty participants organized by CWP Benin and supported by GWP-WA through the regional program officer, Mr. Joseph Yaovi KOGBE.

The workshop contributed to promote institutional and social change in order to remove systemic barriers and gender power inequalities throughout the project life cycle in the design, planning, budgeting, implementation and monitoring-evaluation of investments aimed at ensuring water security and climate change resilient development in Benin.

The main actors in the investment planning and implementation chain were guided to become truly immersed in the concept of the gender transformational approach and their knowledge and understanding of systemic barriers, practices and power inequalities related to gender in the design, planning, budgeting, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of water security and climate change resilient development investments in Benin were harmonized. They were encouraged to adopt an approach to improve behaviors and practices in these areas.

Presentations were supported by practical exercises on which the participants reflected and exchanged in order to better internalize the concepts conveyed by these presentations.
