Guinea, the Ministry of environment is establishing a community of practices

At the invitation of the Minister of the Environment, the Executive Secretary represented the Chair of CWP Guinea at the meeting, which was held on 3 September 2019 in Conakry.

The aim was to set up a community of practice around the Sustainable Management of Wetlands project in West Africa. The major environmental actors who can be involved in the implementation of this project in Guinea. The CWP is one of the trusted actors who were invited to take part in the meeting.

Representatives of government technical services, universities and research centres, NGOs, the media, the Dakar Ecological Monitoring Centre (CES), local authorities, communities and local associations attended the meeting. The workshop was chaired by the Chief of Cabinet of the Ministry of Environment, Hawa Moussa Keita, representing the Minister.

This project is located in 2 areas in Guinea, Loos Islands and Kapatchez and was launched in September 2018. Note that all these areas are classified as RAMSAR sites.
