A new Local Water Committee for the Tchoutchoubou micro-basin in the commune of Tanguieta

The Country Water Partnership of Benin has facilitated the setting up on 20 February 2020 of the Local Water Committee (LWC) of the Tchoutchoubou micro-basin in the commune of Tanguiéta, northern part of the country. This activity is part of the project "promoting IWRM in the Mekrou and Pendjari sub-basins" of the phase 2 of the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation Programme (ProSEHA) funded by the German Cooperation GIZ.

The General Assembly establishing the Tchoutchoubou LWC was chaired by the first Deputy Mayor of the Tanguiéta Commune in the presence of the Executive Secretary of the Country Water Partnership (CWP-Benin), the communal coordinator of ProSEHA-GIZ, the representative of the departmental director of water and mines (DDEM) of Atacora, the representative of the Prefect of Atacora.

It was attended by 150 people made up of the users, including farmers, stockbreeders, processors, wood and sand quarry operators, market gardeners, fishermen, traditional powers and security, associations and NGOs, deconcentrated State structures (SDE) in charge of water, environment and agriculture; CWP-Benin, the northern branch of GIZ/ProSEHA and the Tanguiéta city hall. Participants validate the mission report of the preparatory committee that implemented the road map for the establishment of the LWC of the Tchoutchoubou micro-basin, amended and validated the internal rules of procedure of the LWC and elected and set up the LWC of the Tchoutchoubou micro-basin and its board.
