The Country Water Partnership of Benin (CWP-Benin), the country office of the Pan African Intergovernmental Agency Water and Sanitation for Africa (WSA-Benin), the Solutis company and the National Water Utility Company of Benin (Soneb) have jointly organized on Wednesday 18 July 2018 a validation workshop of the study report on the "Inventory of existing warning systems in Benin and the sub-region", in the framework of the implementation of the SAC-TIC project.

In attendance were the President of the Consumers Association, representatives of structures having experimented with information systems, the Beninese Network of the World Youth Parliament for Water (RBPMJE), resource persons, consultants and the pilot team of the project. The main- focus of the event were the opening remarks by the Executive Secretary of CWP-Benin, the presentation of the SAC-TIC project by the Technical Assistant of the CWP, the presentation of the report submitted for validation, the amendments and observations and finally the validation itself.

SAC-TIC project is a CWP initiative taken to contribute to the improvement of the water quality consumed by the populations of Cotonou during the Soneb water cuts, via mobile phones.  To ensure the success of this project, several activities were carried out, including a study on the status of existing warning systems in Benin and the sub-region.

Comments and recommendations to improve the quality of the final report were made before validating the results of the study mission. Participants recommended the setting up of a monitoring and evaluation system for the SAC-TIC platform, the strengthening of the communication strategy around the platform, the setting up of an economic model to perpetuate the platform and the encouragement of the political authorities for their participation to sustain the project outcomes.
