Benin, implementation of the OmiDelta governance project

The OmiDelta project implementing partners signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the project on 22 February 2019 in the conference room of CWP Benin. The Benin Country Water Partnership (PNE-Benin), the Association to fight against Racism, Ethnocentrism and Regionalism (Association de Lutte Contre le Racisme, l'Ethnocentrisme et le Régionalisme -ALCRER) and the Benin Social Watch Network (SW-B) promote citizen monitoring at the national level and in the municipalities.

The project Governance component of the OmiDelta programme of a total amount of 800,000 Euros is funded by SNV Benin, which manages the "Non-State Actors" Fund of the OmiDelta Programme on behalf of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Governance component of the OmiDelta programme is meant to contribute to strengthen the capacities of organizations that are doing the consultation or monitoring for the respect of human rights related to water (WASH) and the improvement of climate resilience, equity and sustainability in water management in the Ouémé Delta (IWRM).

Were present at the signing ceremony the heads of the three structures namely Mrs Blanche SONON, National Coordinator of Social Watch Benin, Professor Euloge AGBOSSOU, chair of PNE-Benin and Mr Martin ASSOGBA, Executive Director of the NGO ALCRER.

This signature marks the beginning of a two-year collaboration.
