Campaign to popularize and demonstrate the use of ethanol gel

The people living along the Lake Nokoué - Porto Novo Lagoon Complex are facing severe problems with te proliferation invasive plants. To help them cope with these problems, CWP-Benin has obtained financing from the Special Climate and Development Fund (CDSF) of the African Development Bank for the implementation of the project "Strengthening Investments for a Climate Change Resilient Development in the Lake Nokoué - Porto Novo Lagoon Complex".

The establishment of a mini-refinery for the transformation of water hyacinth into ethanol gel is thought to be an alternative to GHG-emitting fuels.

Thus, convinced of the social, environmental and economic impact of the transformation of water hyacinth into ethanol gel, the CWP-Benin is promoting the use of this fuel for cooking in the households of the Complex in particular and throughout the country in general. To this end, a campaign of popularization and demonstration of the domestic use of ethanol gel has been carried out in the communes of the Lake Nokoué - Porto Novo Lagoon complex (So Ava, Aguégués, Sèmè Podji, Adjarra and Porto Novo).
