Capitalizing the initiative to support the empowerment of women farmers for strengthening the climatic resilience of the local communities of the Tchoutchoubou micro-basin in Northern Benin

To ensure ownership of the results of the implementation of the initiative "Support to the empowerment of women farmers for the reinforcement of the climatic resilience of local communities in the Tchoutchoubou micro-basin in North Benin", the Water, Climate, Development and Gender Equality Programme (WACDEP G) implemented by the Benin Country Water Partnership (CWP Benin) in collaboration with the main implementing stakeholders, held a workshop on 21-23 December 2022 to capitalise on the said initiative at the Tanguiéta town hall.

The workshop was opened by Mr. Bio Kouagou SIMBA KASSA, First Deputy Mayor of Tanguiéta in the presence of Mr. André ZOGO, Executive Secretary of the Benin Country Water Partnership (CWP-Benin).

Fifteen (15) participants including four (4) women took part in the workshop. They were representatives of the following structures: the ATDA Tanguiéta Communal Unit, the Tanguiéta Social Promotion Centre, the Tanguiéta Town Hall, the ESPOIR PLUS Cooperative of SEPOUGA, the Communal Hygiene and Sanitation Association, the Tchoutchoubou Local Water Committee and women farmers.

At the end of the three days of work, the main results were achieved, namely:

- The amendment and validation of the report on the water supply study of the areas planted by the women farmers who are beneficiaries of the WACDEP G project;

- The amendment and adoption of the rules of management of materials and equipment made available by the WACDEP G programme;

- The identification and analysis of successes and strengths of the implementation of activities are identified and weaknesses, difficulties and corrective measures taken.

- Suggestions and recommendations on the orientation of the next phase of the project were also formulated.
