CWP Guinea follows up on ECOWAS infrastructures guidelines application

The Executive Secretary of the Country Water Partnership (CWP) Guinea, Mr. Afiziou BARRY took part in the follow up mission on the Garafiri and Fomi dams.

The mission is tasked to report on the socio-economic and environmental impacts of these dams; carry out a study of the socio-economic and environmental impacts on populations bordering the dams ; inform and sensitize civil society actors, media, academics, public and private sectors on the content of the ECOWAS Directive on major infrastructures and on the impacts of dams in order to initiate a citizen watch on its application and collective advocacy dynamics.

Mr. Barry as the Chair of the WASH Coalition in Guinea, a partner NGO of the CWP is working with the Think Tank Initiative for the Economic Outlook and Sustainable Development (IPED) to arouse people's interest in the notion of sharing the benefits of dams. A Policy Brief on the results of the information and communication workshop will be released.
