CWP Senegal with the Ministry train technicians on piloting drones for catchment mapping

From Monday, October 25 to Saturday, November 05, 2021, the Country Water Partnerships of Senegal (PNES) in partnership with UNESCO and the Ministry of Water and Sanitation through its directorates, the DGPRE and the DPGI, organized a training session leading to a certificate on drone piloting. This session was held, alternating between theory and practice.

This part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Water and Sanitation of Senegal and the Regional Office of Unesco in Dakar. UNESCO has supported the Ministry of Water and Sanitation of Senegal with the acquisition of a surveillance drone. The CWP Senegal is supporting by organizing the training on drone piloting and digital earth modeling for watershed management, to build the capacity of the staff of the technical departments of the Ministry of Water and Sanitation of Senegal.

This training aims mainly at capacitating the technical agents of the Ministry of Water and Sanitation in drone piloting and the possibilities that this tool offers for the control and management of water resources and flood risks.

10 technical staff were involved, 6 of whom succeeded the theoretical aspects and three succeeded the practical phase.
