Gambia discusses a national climate framework

The Department of Water Resources is mulling plans to set up a national framework for climate change services. Officials from regional and International partner organizations are currently took part in a consultative meeting on developing a harmonized framework to deliver prominent climate services.

The three-day meeting was hosted by the Department of Water Resources, in partnership with the World Meteorological Organization and ECOWAS. The national framework for climate services is also expected to support stakeholder’s cooperation to mitigate the impact of climate change.

Speaking at the program the Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources, James Gomez said the framework is also meant to enable society to manage the risks arising from climate variability through cooperation and capacity building programs.
