GWP WA at the Africa Water Week in Libreville, Gabon

The seventh Africa Water Week was organized in Gabon from 0ctober 29 to November 02 on the theme « Toward Achieving Water Security and Safely Managed Sanitation for Africa”. GWP was one the main session convening institution and GWP WA was represented by the Chair, Prof. Amadou Hama MAIGA and the Executive Secretary, Mr. Armand HOUANYE.

On October 30, Prof. MAIGA took part in the Climate financing panel. He together with the ES had discussions with many partners to exchange on potential joint actions.

A youth representative from Benin, Oumar SALAMI made a presentation on the project #TonFuturTonClimat during the session on Promoting youth engagement in water governance through youth research and innovation. In the final declaration, the participants committed “to promoting a new vision for the future of the water and sanitation sector. This is justified by the critical mass of skills and capabilities that we represent.

To ensure our leadership and contribute to the achievement of SDG 6, we have chosen research and development of innovations that take into account green solutions, ICT, among other new topics, but also, the mediation of knowledge through development education, citizenship and hygiene actions.”

GWP WA together with UNICEF and the Economic Commission of Central African States (ECCAS) held a workshop to support the development process of the ECCAS fund raising strategy on water resources. The meeting was attended by the Executive Secretary, Mr. Armand HOUANYE together the consultants, Dr. Madiodio NIASSE and Mr. Edmond KABORE.
