GWP-WA face to face Steering Committee meeting

On October 18, 2018, the GWP-WA Steering Committee meeting was held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso bringing together 22 representatives of different structures, including the Global Water Partnership Organisation (GWPO), some West African Country Water Partnerships (CWP),

a representative of youth networks, the private sector, donors of GWP-WA, the network of basin organizations, resource persons and the staff of the GWP-WA Executive Secretariat. This meeting was held in a context where the GWP is in the process of developing its next strategy starting 2020.

Chaired by Professor Amadou Hama MAIGA, the purpose of the meeting was to enable SC to review its operational capacity, the status of implementation of the recommendations resulting from the 2017 Assembly of Partners and the March 2018 Virtual SC meeting to address the major challenges facing the network, and also to assess its contribution to the sustainable development goals. It was also meant to share with partners the initiatives underway in the region and exchange on the best strategies in order to derive maximum benefit for countries.

The work allowed the presentation and adoption, among other things, of the moral report of the Chair of GWP-WA, Professor Amadou Hamma MAIGA, the presentation and adoption of the progress and financial reports by 30 September 2018, the presentation of the 2019 work plan and the budgetary situation that will prevail in 2019 and through exchanges and discussions that resulted in recommendations and decisions.

The Executive Secretary, Mr. Armand Kocou HOUANYE thanked the members of the Steering Committee for their participation, their contributions and enriching recommendations which will be refined as necessary to impact the GWP action plan in the region and in the countries. The chair, Prof. A. MAIGA reaffirmed his availability to support the Executive Secretariat in the implementation of the Steering Committee's recommendations and decisions.
