How to revamp the CWP in Togo, JVE battles to bring aboard partners

The NGO Jeunes Volontaires pour l'Environnement (JVE) is advocating for the establishment of a real framework for consultation between the Ministry in charge of Water and civil society organizations involved in the sector.

Meeting Mr.  Bolidja TIEM, the Minister of Water of Togo, JVE accompanied by the Concertation Council for Water and Basic Sanitation in Togo (CCEABT) made it clear that every national partner should bring efforts together to have a dynamic Country Water Partnership. "We therefore drew the Minister's attention to the need to relaunch the Country Water Partnership of Togo (CWP-Togo) in order to have a better framework for collaboration between his department and CSOs working in the sector," says Mr. Sena ALOUKA, Executive Director of JVE.

The CWP was first established in Togo in 2006 and has not really done much to open the platform to partners in the country. GWP-WA secretariat has encouraged interested organizations in Togo to take initiatives that can lead to a revamping of the national platform. Any effort will be supported and accompanied by the regional level of GWP.

JVE is one of GWP-WA active collaborating partners in Togo involved in the implementation of some GWP and partners initiatives including the TFTC project funded by the Quebec Government, GWP and ISW.
