The Volta Basin Authority (VBA) organized from 26 to 29 March 2019 in Loumbila, Burkina Faso, a training seminar to facilitate the ratification and implementation of the Volta Basin Water Charter.
The meeting brought together the Burkinabe authorities of the water sector; National Focal Points and legal experts from VBA member countries; the ECOWAS Water Resources Coordination Centre (CEMR); Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA); the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN); the Executive Directorate of the VBA and the Consultant.
The exchanges highlighted the links between the Helsinki Convention and the VBA texts, in particular the coherence between these instruments.
The opening ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Water and Sanitation represented by Mr. TRAORE Serge, Director General of Water Resources of Burkina Faso.
