GWP Benin signs framework agreement with the Government

On Wednesday, May 08, 2019, took place in the conference room of the Ministry of Justice and Legislation (MJL) in Cotonou, the official ceremony for the official presentation of the framework memoranda of understanding to twenty-one NGOs, distributed as follows:

- eighteen (18) NGOs for the renewal of the Framework Agreement and

- three (03) NGOs signing this agreement with the Government for the first time.

GWP-Benin, is one of the three news and that is why its President Prof. Euloge AGBOSSOU took part in this ceremony with two collaborators.

The framework agreement is signed between the Government of Benin represented by the Minister of Justice and the beneficiary NGO after agreement by the Minister of Finance. The Agreement allows the beneficiary NGO to enjoy a number of benefits such as tax exemptions, financial support in the form of grants, and various other government support.

The PNE is governed by the 1901 law on NGOs in Benin and thus enjoys the same advantages. Until then, the Benin PNE had benefited from the headquarters agreement of EAA, its host institution for these advantages. Today he can enjoy it directly and independently.

It should be noted that the process for the Benin NAP has been underway since 2017, to be successfully completed on May 08, 2019. The ceremony took place under the guidance of the Deputy Director of Cabinet (DAC/MJL) of the Minister of Justice, who was unable to attend, and the Director in charge of relations with institutions and the promotion of social dynamics (DRIPDS).
