Mali: urbanism at discussion

A workshop on the harmonized review of the Water, Environment, Urban Planning and State Domain Sector (SEEUDE) for the 2017 financial year was held on Thursday 3 May in Bamako. In attendance were all stakeholders from the sectors mentioned above.

CWP-Mali was represented by Mr. Bourama TRAORE, outgoing Permanent Secretary. The overall objective of the one-day meeting was to monitor and evaluate the implementation of sectoral development policies and strategies.

The opening ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development. In attendance were the Minister of Energy and Water, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, a representative of the Mayor of Commune V of the District of Bamako and the Lead Partner of the donors.

After various presentations and the results of the group session, it was recommended to take appropriate measures to achieve a disbursement rate of 50% of external financing for projects and programmes; recruit managers according to the real needs of the structures and to initiate training for the staff and sector structures on results-based management (RBM) reporting.
