Mali, community radios for sustainable water management

The Selingué and Markala dams commission organized a workshop to get the involvement of community radios and other traditional ways of communication into sensitizing communities in the good management of water resources in both dams.

The event brought together radio workers, fishermen, market gardeners and local political leaders with the aim of putting a light on the sustainable management issues of water resources and how to behave commonly to achieve it.

The deputy national director of hydraulics as well as the prefect of the locality called on participants to work together a sustainable management. The commission of the waters of Selingué and Markala dams has been following very closely the evolution of water situation and has succeeded in giving warning signs and even preventing hard situations. A good example of organization and follow up.

The CWP Mali took part in the workshop.
