Mobilizing investments for water security and climate resilience in Africa by promoting gender equality

The implementing teams of the Continental Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP) on gender transformative water climate and development Program (AIP WACDEP-G) aiming at promoting gender equality through climate resilient water investment had a coordination meeting in Lusaka, Zambia from 15 to 17 November 2022.

The meeting reviewed the achievements, challenges, and lessons from the implementation of AIP WACDEP-G Phase I, reviewed program interventions outside of the target countries and identified opportunities for continuing support under Phase II of program implementation, reviewed how WACDEP-G and GCF Readiness can mutually strengthen program/project implementation and achievement and discussed the countries that are proposed for consideration in AIP WACDEP-G Phase II implementation.

The meeting brought together the GWPO, M & E Head, Global Climate Lead, Deputy Head of Finance, the GWP Africa CU, Programs Lead, AIP WACDEP-G Coordinator, Finance Manager, the GWP Africa Regions (Program Managers, Regional Gender Advisors, Finance Managers, Knowledge Management Experts), the GWP Countries (Program Managers, National Gender Advisors), the Country Managers for GCF Readiness Projects-Eswatini, Somalia and Central African Republic, the Partners (Representatives of Ministries dealing with water, climate and gender), the AUC representative and the members of the Reference Group.

GWP-WA delegation included the regional and country programme managers, the administrative and financial manager, the communication and knowledge manager and a country representative of the Climate and environment fund (FNEC).
