Senegal, the CWP participates in a training activity

From 04 to 07 January 2022, the CWP Senegal (PNES) through its Chair has carried out a mission to Matam in the framework of the implementation of the component : "Hydro-agricultural development and protection of water resources", of the development program of the Dioulol watershed implemented by the National Company for the Development and Exploitation of the lands of the Senegal River Delta (SAED) through activities to fight against the silting up of the Dioulol river, which constitutes the source of water for a large number of perimeters including Hamady Ounaré and Orkadiérè rehabilitated during the first phase of the project.

This work is carried out on behalf of the Integrated Water Resources Management and Multiple Use Development Project of the Senegal River Basin - Phase II (PGIRE 2) executed by SAED under OMVS funding in partnership.

The capacity building activity for community stakeholders in the Dioulol watershed in organizational development, management of the Federation of Farmers and Breeders for Development (FAED), Soil and Water Conservation / Soil Defence and Restoration (CES/DRS) techniques and organization of prospecting visits to the Yedia river.

The PNES provided training in IWRM to the various beneficiaries of this program, which helped strengthen the organization, functioning and intervention of the Village Development Committees (CVD) and the Inter-Village Development Committee (CIVD) Women.  The capacities of the members of the management bodies of the FAED as well as those of the community volunteers for the realization of works of high technical quality within the framework of the treatment of ravines were reinforced. The training also allowed the actors involved in the implementation of the project to acquire useful knowledge in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and to learn about the problems that cause the invasion of the Yedia stream by sand.

45 people took part in this training, mainly beneficiaries of the CVDs, women's CIVDS and teams of community volunteers from January 5 to 7, 2022, with a field visit on January 8.  The activity is coordinated by the NGO group RADI/ADT-GERT.
