TFTC 2 Burkina Faso strengthens the capacities of the members of the KOLGWEOGO association

The Kolgweogo Association, with about 20 members, benefited from a series of training sessions on agricultural practices that aim to improve their productivity, organisation and development of economic activities; Zaï and half-moons were experimented with in order to teach beneficiaries how to transform a resistant land into a resilient and favourable land for agriculture.

This series of trainings is part of the Organizational and Economic Development components of the TFTC 2 project's agroforestry park in order to strengthen the capacities of the beneficiaries and surrounding populations to ensure the proper implementation of the project and its sustainability.

This series of training sessions, which began last April, has enabled the establishment of:

- A nursery of 15,000 plants, mainly local exotic species, whose purpose is to ensure the sustainability of local species but also for their importance in terms of medicinal virtues and many other practical uses.

- A living hedge erected all around the perimeter with acacia macrotacya whose seeds are intended for sale. The choice of this species is justified by its capacity to reinforce the fence for the protection of the area and also for its seeds which are very nourishing and highly prized on the market.

- A 750 m2 vegetable garden consisting of 30 beds of tomatoes, carrots, courgettes, parsley and cucumbers. These beds can be used for more than ten (10) years for the same activities and an optimal yield.

The lateritic nature of the soil (living rock) makes the digging of the hedge and the reforestation difficult, thus encouraging the use of digging equipment more adapted to the field.
