GWP Eastern Africa (GWPEA) Regional Project Manager for IDMP attended the 1st Africa Drought Conference (ADC) that was held on 15-19 August 2016 in Windhoek, Namibia. The theme of the conference was “Enhancing resilience to drought events on the African Continent”. The conference was aimed at discussing ways by the participants (African Union states, UN agencies and other stakeholders) of enhancing resilience on the African continent
En el marco de las actividades por el Día Mundial de Lucha contra la Sequía y la Desertificación, el Ministerio del Ambiente (MINAM)-miembro activo del Comité Coordinador del Programa Agua, Clima y Desarrollo (PACyD)- con el apoyo de GWP Sudamérica, el PNUD, y el GEF, llevó a cabo el 15 de junio en Chaclla un taller de sensibilización y fortalecimiento para la lucha contra la desertificación y la sequía a nivel de la subcuenca del río Santa Eulalia. Chaclla fue elegida por la situación de sequía marcada de la región, y el Minam percibió esta necesidad en el marco de su participación en el proyecto piloto de GWP Sudamérica que se lleva a cabo en el área. Los invitados fueron los alcaldes y comuneros de la la Sub cuenca.

Climatic conditions of Poland are characterized by small amount of precipitation that is relatively favourable distributed during a year. Most of the precipitation occur during summer, which is the period with the highest demand for water. Despite this fact, in most of the country (except the seaside and the highest mountains) a significant deficit of water can be observed.
